Here's one of my favourites:
Acts 21:39 (KJV) 'But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.' |

I also like: Pr.4:7 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Pr.14:15 "The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going." |

Ecclesiastes 9
4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. and 14 there was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it. 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16 Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. |

Matthew 7:1-5, which seems to be one of the passages of the Bible that Christians are in the biggest hurry to ignore:

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." -- Colossians 4:6
As RevDahlia mentioned, most of Ecclesiastes is pretty good. Some highlights: "Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun." -- Ecclesiastes 8:15 "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten." -- Ecclesiastes 9:5 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." -- Ecclesiastes 9:10 Oh yeah, and there's always: "Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it." -- Malachi 2:3 |

Although,"Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it." Malachi 2:3, I had never read.

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." - Ezekiel 23:20
Very <ahem> uplifting, indeed. |
