I took a lot of heart from Voltaire, who pointed out a lot of Christianity's BS in a way that enabled him to stay alive! Reading him was a revelation for me.

I determined not to be evangelical about my lack of faith (i.e. not a rabid atheist kind of anti-Billy Graham) which certain people have observed, ironically, is very Christian of me. I guess I didn't have such a hard time as you since I passed gradually through agnosticism to atheism.

I excuse my tardy atheism (to myself) on the basis that I had other, more important, issues to deal with than whether god really existed or not. This makes me feel better.

Cheers, john
