I don't know anything about that, but I just looked at that thread, and the guy is actually "GySgt." I don't know why Domenico called him "gunnysgt." I guess that's what "GySgt" stands for or something. Is that the same person? Beats me.

"pecksniffian"???.......Should I look that up or is it self-descriptive...LOL
It's from Martin Chuzzlewit, by Charles Dickens. (One of my very favourite Dickens novels.)

The character in question (Mr Pecksniff) is a particularly objectional hypocrite, and the term "pecksniffian" has come to signify everything he stands for.

A quote from Chapter 2 of Martin Chuzzlewit will give you some insight into the fellow:
  • It has been remarked that Mr. Pecksniff was a moral man. So he was. Perhaps there never was a more moral man than Mr. Pecksniff: especially in his conversation and correspondence. It was once said of him by a homely admirer, that he had a Fortunatus's purse of good sentiments in his inside.

In this particular he was like the girl in the fairy tale, except that if they were not actual diamonds which fell from his lips, they were the very brightest paste, and shone prodigiously. He was a most exemplary man: fuller of virtuous precept than a copy-book.

Some people likened him to a direction-post, which is always telling the way to a place, and never goes there: but these were his enemies, the shadows cast by his brightness; that was all.

His very throat was moral. You saw a good deal of it. You looked over a very low fence of white cravat (whereof no man had ever beheld the tie for he fastened it behind), and there it lay, a valley between two jutting heights of collar, serene and whiskerless before you. It seemed to say, on the part of Mr. Pecksniff, `There is no deception, ladies and gentlemen, all is peace, a holy calm pervades me.'

So did his hair, just grizzled with an iron-grey which was all brushed off his forehead, and stood bolt upright, or slightly drooped in kindred action with his heavy eyelids. So did his person which was sleek though free from corpulency.

So did his manner, which was soft and oily in a word, even his plain black suit, and state of widower and dangling double eye-glass, all tended to the same purpose, and cried aloud, `Behold the moral Pecksniff!'

So, any good and controversial threads going on on CF these days that I should get involved in?

Virtual animals have no right to life, as they are not alive to begin with.

Besides, if you refuse to eat anything that was once alive, you cannot eat. The plants you eat were once alive, too. Oh, and to keep this on-topic, they most likely had sex.

Default Thread "why ban?" by Evee

Well, it looks like Scarlatti's banning is the object of discussion in THIS THREAD started by Evee. She didn't see why, characterizing Scarlatti as both humorous and a gentleman (I concur!). This is what a Christain in favor of the banning said

My point of view: Years of experience on online discussion forums where there was no moderator and a feeling that any kind of banning of posts is "censorship".

The problem is this: If we allow trolls to post on christianforums.com, this place will quickly become a place that is useful to only the trolls.

Now, to be honest, I have not seen dScarlatti posts. That said, it sounds like he was the kind of troll that pretended to support a position he doesn't belive in, and thought it was funny when people take him seriously. Quite frankly, I do not appreciate people who act like that and think it is fair to ban a person who engages in that kind of activity.

The wanring and banning policy is reasonable and fair. If someone insists on trolling after being told to stop, there are plenty of other online forums which allow for trolling.

I for one, appreciate all of the heard work the moderators do keeping this place clean.

Additionally, discussion of actions done by moderators is against the rules here; do not be surprised if this thread gets deleted in the near future.
Notice the implicit threat in the last sentence, what do you want to bet that Sam reports the thread....

Arikay then asked why Sam labeled Scarlatti a troll and Sam posted this post by Scarlatti as evidence that he was a sarcastic troll:

Gnosticism means knowledge, and knowledge is BAD BAD BAD!
This is SARCASTIC TROLLING!!!???? You've got to be kidding me! However, it is a perfect example of just how paranoid and thin-skinned some of the posters over at CF are!Considering that non-believers are lambasted at every opportunity with poisoning-the-well (character assassination) against knowledge cult-mind control blurbs such as:
  • 2 Peter 3:3
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
  • Psalm 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
  • Psalm 53:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
  • Tirades like this (Word document) against using logic, science, and reason to make decisions
  • John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.(the BIG BRIBE to disregard your intelligence if the threat of character assassination fails)

Considering all of the opprobrium that is heaped on using one's reason instead of just blindly believing, Scarlatti's mildly sarcastic (at worst) line hardly rises to the level of "trolling"!!! What a bunch of cowardly hypocrites!!!

Incidentally, I'd be willing the bet that if Evee doesn't get suspended, she gets a warning and/or the thread does get deleted....

To the cowardly hypocrite(s) who banned Scarlatti at CF:
PPFFFFFFTTTTT!!!!
(That goes double if you mess with Evee!)

Lord love a duck! The Thread already looks like it's been deleted!!! (I can't access it if I click on the link!!!))):banghead: :banghead:

That didn't take long. The thread has been deleted.

I didn't even get a chance to finish reading it!
