By living life, and enjoying it. What reason is there to be despondent? Personally, I think life is just grand, and I take great pleasure in it.

How do you handle it? How do you give your life meaning?
This question has always puzzled me. Why does life have to have "meaning"? When you receive a gift from somebody, does it always have to have "meaning" or can the gift itself, and the pleasure it brings to both parties, be meaning enough?

"Why does life have to have "meaning"?"

Well, because... it just does! It wouldn't be here if it didn't mean something. *nodnod*

Nobody just gives a gift for no reason... even if the only reason is to make the other person (or themselves) feel good, it's still a reason...

Somebody else up to responding to this? I plead a case of the vapors.

The only meaning of life is life itself.
If you are going to drag God into it, then the question remains the same: what is the meaning of God? Why is He here?

Trying not to make this another long post...

And why has the universe been arranged to suit humans, if it does have some kind of meaning? Why would we assume that we could comprehend this point, or that it would benefit us? Perhaps the universe was created for, say, maggots, and we're here to give them a good source of nourishment after we die- in which case we are thwarting the purpose of the universe when we cremate our bodies, or place them where maggots can't reach them. (Other animals would give them food as well, of course, but perhaps the universe wants to provide the widest possible table).

Sorry, that was an extreme example . But there doesn't really seem to be any reason (at least to me) to suspect a comprehensible, finite, human-centered destiny over chance or a destiny centered on any other species.

-Perchance.
