[COLOR=indigo]I am interested in hearing more on this subject. Why does the "de-evolving" theory make more sense than the theory of evolution? If humans de-evolved from God (some say that we de-evolved from the so-called "Sons of Man" predating the flood) then are we continuing to de-evolve? Is, say, the popularity of American Idol evidence of our de-evolution?

PS - "that" = the fact that you use the Bible as an excuse as to why you like/dislike certain people/places/things or actions.

If we are descended from fallen parents who once had perfect bodies, we might expect some remnant of the embarassment they felt when their bodies "became brutish" to manifest itself in us. With that in mind let me ask: why do bathrooms have doors on them? Because people don't want to be seen TCB, if you will. And just why would we not want to be seen doing something which is perfectly natural?

Yes and no. America bucked the trend, at least for the first century of its existence. Having reached a level of prosperity and security in the 50's, many threw away the morals that had brought us hegemony, and then clownishly scratched their wooden heads when their children rebelled against their hypocritical authority. It was Solomon's Israel all over again. Now we have learned professors seriously advocating such things as pedophilia and infanticide, rap artists displaying a mentality towards women that Neanderthals would find admirable, and too many other insanities to list; and this all in the space of a few decades.

And you think evolution could have produced an Einstein in millions of years? Seems doubtful in the extreme, to put it mildly.

Haven't seen the movie, but it is most obvious to me in the music field. Each generation of parents thinks the music favored by its children is inferior to what they grew up listening to - and they've been right every time.

I have never once used the Bible to justify my opinions on homosexuality, abortion, or any of the rest of it - at least not in the sense that if it's in the "Word o'God" it must be true.

(Fr Andrew): Becoming "brutish" must be a gradual thing. The Romans (at least) used community (probably unisex) latrines--with up to 40 seats. They had no problem being seen doing something perfectly natural.
I suggest that bathroom doors are part of the Christian campaign to make us ashamed of our bodies and our bodily functions. Augustine probably owned stock in a bathroom door company.
