I evolve...the older british comedy series mentioned have all made my burnout list with the exception of a relative few that are forever etched into my DNA.

Overall, I find British comedies far superior than anything the americans can string together, though.

Presently, I live for Coupling...

Thank you, Slappy Squirrel.

Incidentally, to firmly believe that Buffy is a mindless piece of bubblegum? It may not be tragedy, but it is sad.

I don't know how anyone can fail to find Python or Blackadder lacking in humor, but I think I have an edge that helped me assimilate them. I grew up listening to the greatest British comedy program of them all:

The Goons.

Hey, maybe I'm a sick puppy, but at least I don't use triple-negatives when making a point.

I can't fail to find them lacking in humor. I don't think they're funny at all.

One suspects this is not what you meant . . .

Was raised on Monty Python...my dad loves it (and Douglas Adams too...wonder why so many godless folk are fans of the same things????)...Mom loved the older shows mentioned...I LOVE AbFab and for some reason much prefer Changing Rooms to Trading Spaces

Blackaddder, Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python and don't forget the new classic, The Office (not sure if that's made it to the US yet).

Love 'em all.

But I'm a bit like you, DBP. I can thoroughly enjoy Will & Grace, Seinfeld, Cheers, Frasier, Friends, The Simpsons. And absolutely LOVE The Larry Sanders Show.

You have to admit though. It's rare for an American sitcom that is based on a British sitcom to be even remotely good. Remember Men Behaving Badly! And the British Whose Line craps on Drew Carey, which is odd since a lot of the improvisers are the same.

The only exception to that rule would be All in the Family, I guess.
