I'm an organ donor, I won't need them. Dunno about medical studies or anything, I think I'll just be cremated.

I'm an organ donor. I spent my youth being somewhat rough on my body but anything they can find that is usable after my death is up for grabs. Then burn the rest. I didn't know about the free cremation thing for bodies used in med schools and such...sounds like a great idea.

The idea of being studied by a bunch of students bothers me a little but... it won't be bothering me when/if it happens.
I brought up organ donating, and that that's what I would want to happen if I was a candidate, to my family and got mixed reactions... The people who would be making the decision ultimately understood, but interestingly enough, the theists in my family were wide-eyed and could not fathom that having my body examined or cut up didn't change my mind. They think I'm morbid. It's also funny that the person who reaaally couldn't understand is one who is waiting for a donated organ herself! <shaking head> |

I used to have a dillemma about what to do with my body after I die. On the one hand, I would love to contribute it to science and do a small bit of good. But on the other hand, I would like it to go back to the ecosystem from which it came. The I learned about body farms - dillemma solved - I can do both at the same time.

I signed my organ donor card... When I'm dead, it's not like I'll need my body anymore. Let someone else use my heart, liver, corneas and then maybe I can help others even in my death.
I'm thinking that eventually this issue of organ donation will be moot as medical science will learn how to grow organs in a lab to be compatible with a specified recipient. I probably need to talk to my family about this more, but the subject is kind of gross for an easter dinner conversation (I have discussed this before and my mom wasn't so keen about it). |

I definitely would like to donate if possible. Body farms sound a little too creepy for me, but I wouldn't mind donating my body to science and then having it cremated afterwards.

I'm an organ donor and atheist, but I can't decide what else I want to happen. I'm wavering between getting buried in a cardboard box under a tree, getting cremated, or donated to medical science. I have a friend who's studying medicine, and I'd like to be able to help other people learn.
I guess my absolute favourite would be to get cremated and then sent into space, but that's never gona happen! |

I'm an atheist and I would love for my organs to be used by others if I happen to become brain dead. I've heard stories of rabid racists becoming more rational after finding out "black" blood saved their life, imagine what would happen if some fundamentalist got my lung and it saved their life.
The one thing that freaks me out is eye transplants, can they really do them? In the end I wouldn't mind my eyes being used for this, but it sure seems freaky that I will continue to see after death. |

Whyever not? I have no qualms about icky things being done with my body after I'm dead. As if I'd care.
However, I will have arranged that if my brain is transplanted into a hunched and scarred body after my death to serve the whims of a maniacal scientist, my name will be legally changed to "Igor". |
