It also isn't a Catholic problem. How many Protestants do most of us know that were molested?

Again, here's the problem. In a religious environment you set up a situation where you have a minister who is held up as an ultimate social and moral authority. Protestants are as bad as Catholics or worse... they even go so far as to set up 'Youth Pastors' who have more or less unrestricted access to children and recieve pretty much absolute (and largely completely unearned) trust. Pedophiles are drawn to jobs like this like a Republican to a corporate lobbyist.
