The 80,000 year migration figure is the one I'm a little more suspect of. Aboriginal australians should share a common ancestor with all other humans, yet, some figures place their arrival in Australia at more than 80,000 years ago.

This reminds me of a story I read a few years ago about DNA testing done on one of England's 'bog men'. This 9000 year old mummy was found in one of the peat bogs in England, and for a classroom project in some secondary school, they tested the DNA of all the students.

The teacher had his blood drawn for DNA testing too, and it turns out that he was likely to be a direct descendant of the bog man.

What struck me as odd was that, IIRC, none of the students in the class turned out to be 'bog man descendants' too.

This is all from memory. I did a google search and couldn't find a reference article on this, so forgive me if I've messed up.

Ah, ok, I did find what I was looking for. I had remembered it as a 'bog man' but it turned out to be a stone age skeleton found in some caves near Cheddar, England.

And the fellow wasn't found to be a direct descendent, but definitely related. Tests used mitochondrial DNA.

The Real Eve talked about Aborigines, and it touched on points mentioned above also. They pretty much proved their point about humans leaving out of Africa and eventually going all over the world. At least to me they did.
It's really sad to think about slavery and the still-prevalent opinions about non-whites being inferior, when DNA evidences proves we're all descended from African races.
