There is often closed bidding between small numbers of contractors. This is nothing new. But Cheney is not on the Halliburton payroll. This was taken care of before he became VP.

Zanthor, no offense but no reputable source has claimed the Iranians actually did the chemical bombing instead of Iraqi's. Iran hasn't used chemical weapons before in Iraq, so for some internet news rag to claim years after the fact Iranians did it with no proof, shouldn't be taken seriously.

To which Bill Clinton would have been cleared when he was revealed to have no current Texaco ties (such as employment). I have no problem with investigations. Democrats have been investigating this for years. If they find that Cheney is still on the payroll of Halliburton you'll hear about it. The fact is that he isn't so this is a dead horse being beaten.

Democrats have also used naval ships for political purposes. I can't remember his name offhand but I saw one of them wearing a jump suit from doing the same thing a few years ago, on his own website. Who is the last President to NOT take political opportunity to use their victories in their campaigns later? That President doesn't exist. If the Commander in Chief wants to ride in a jet to give a victory speech on one of his own ships, why exactly are we telling him not to? It's not like we lost in Gulf War II.

(Fr Andrew): That would have been Patrick Leahy.

(Fr Andrew): My objection is that he intentionally put himself in a position in which he had to wear military gear--which (visually, at least) blurs the Constitutional mandate for civilian control of the military. He should have worn a business suit and taken a helicopter to the Abraham Lincoln.
IMO

OK I understand your point. My only contention is that he still is the Commander in Chief, and that it's within his power to use military craft to visit military craft. Or skip getting on military craft entirely. Or wearing a protective suit when using such military aircraft. Just IMRO.
