Southbound - do you write for the Straight Dope or just copy their material? And what does your post have to do with the topic?

Everyone, I find that many times people are taking individual verses and applying them to a specific topic. With something like the Bible, however, most of the verses must be kept in context. The translation difficulties have alread be brought up. Translations are inconsistent from book to book because of age differences, however, looking past that, the meaning stays the same. Therefore, it is probable that irregularites can be pointed out by comparing the writting of different authors from different times. And no, the Bible was not written by God. Rather, it was inspired by Him. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rubuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." Also, many of you refer to Christians' arguements as circular and illogical. Many of them are. Mine are not. An in depth view of the 200 years after Jesus' birth will show you that, at the very least, the people in those years viewed Christ's reserection to have been true. Most of the infomation comes from Roman records, which were kept very well. There is more evidence that Christ rose from the cross than there is that Washington crossed the Deleware. Of course, nothing can prove Christ's existence as God, or all of us would believe in Him. Christianity still requires a degree of faith, as does everything in life. |

I'm sorry, but Lowder's essay is not enough to convince me of the inaccuracy of much of the Christian history. It is biased and Lowder often makes assumptions with a lack of information. He does have some good points, I will give you that; however, he does not prove the Christian history to be completely and utterly false. Also, you might want to look up peruse.

Lowder doesn't argue about "the inaccuracy of much of the Christian history." Lowder provides information on extra-Christian references to Jesus that show the statement, "Most of the infomation comes from Roman records," to be completely and utterly false.
