AMD Athlon 1.4(I hate it....runs way too hot for my liking)

512 pc2100 RAM

Geforce4MX 64 Meg. ( I want to upgrade soon...any thoughts on the ATI 9800 pro? I've heard some pretty good things about them.

Echo Layla Soundcard...mainly for recording, and the optical out doesn't hurt either

Running litestep as current shell. Boo to explorer!

Gateway 19 inch moniter.

I'm about to get a VGA to component adapter to plug the box into an HDTV, then use the optical out on my card for surround sound on my home theatre. It will be....heavenly.

Hmm...newegg.com lists the 9800 pro at $345. Not a bad deal. It's already got the component video adapter, and that's what I'll need, as well as the better card.

My system: PII400, 128 MB RAM, 8GB HDD, 17" CRT, GeForce 2 GTS (64 MB), Win98, DVD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW 16x/40x/32x/10x, el crappo sound card/speakers, dial-up.

Favourite Games: DOOM, Quake, Half-Life, Powerslide, Steel Panthers, Civil War Generals 2, Grand Prix Legends, GeneRally.

Anticipated Games: None, really. I've become a little bored of computer games. But currently I'm designing some game utilities, and I hope to one day design my own little game. It's more fun designing them than playing them, I think.

well, some people here certainly have machines that put mine to shame

About the 9800 pro, I've seen reviews comparing it to the 9700 pro, which I have, and I'd have to say "go for it". The GeForce 5900 Ultra is slightly more powerful, but it's an immense card and costs even more. Overall, the best high-end "bang for your buck" is unquestionably the 9700 pro/9800 pro.

AdamSmith: I notice you've got an incredibly high-end setup. Why the PC3200? Why not the RDRAM 1066?

BBT: Good to see another Fallout fan

AzJeff: what's your favorite TFC map/class? Also, have you played Serious Sam 2?
