That would be interesting.

livius,

What would happen to a mod/admin here if he broke rules like outspoken does on CF? I found one post of his that in one sentence breaks three of the new rules.

Well, let's be fair: When we say "mod/admin sockpuppets", 90% of what we're talking about is "Outspoken", who seems to have a nearly supernatural ability to get under people's skins and irritate them, while probably staying within the letter of the rules.

That said, I'd guess the application will be more fair than many of you expect. *Perfectly* fair? Well, no. But nothing ever is.

Anabell doesn't do the whole bible thing, its just her opinions most of the time huh anna?

Seebs, is this comment within the letter of the rules? I just want clarification.

Well, was the post before or after the old rules?

I think it'll take a while for dust to settle, and feathers to get less ruffled... but I also want to point out, I'm *not* the only person on the mod staff who might view some of this stuff as a problem.

I am also stunned by the scope of the work they do; between the larger set of rules, and the extra problems with trolls, those people are doing a LOT of moderation work you don't see from the outside, and just about all of it is work I think is consistent. It's not that you guys wouldn't do the same in most cases (at least if you had the rules in question, like "no cussing"), it's that they have more of it to do than you might expect.

It sure doesn't look like the letter of the rules to me... But it also looks like it *predates* the new rules. That said, I suspect it breaks the old rules...

Umm... even though the post by Thebear shows today's date, there was a message, possibly the same one that is there now, several days ago. I know it was there several days ago because I read it. So outspokens post was before bear reposted the rules, but not before the new rules were originally posted.

This is just Louis Booth/Outspoken's mode of operation.
He is sarcastic and nasty to everyone. While it annoys me that he actually gets away with this, it doesn't hurt me personally.

It's like having an annoying fly flitting around your head. You want to smack it at the time, but once it is gone, you forget it ever existed.

Outspoken is a fool and easy to ignore.

True, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he breaks the rules he was "hired" to enforce.
