Default I am in deep trouble!

I was sent this email by my cousin:Subject: Earthquake in France

Quote:
February 14, 2003. Today it was reported that severe earthquakes have
occurred in 10 different locations in France. The severity was measured
in excess of 10 on the Richter Scale. The cause was the 56,681 dead
American soldiers buried in French soil rolling over in their graves.
According to the American Battle Monuments Commission there are 26,255
Yankee dead from World War I buried in 4 cemeteries in France. There are
30,426 American dead from World War II buried in 6 cemeteries in France.
These 56,681 brave American heroes died in their youth to liberate a
country which is guilty of shameful unspeakable behavior in the 21st
century. May the United States of America never forget their sacrifice
as we find ways to forcefully deal with the Godforsaken unappreciative,
forgetful country of France!

PASS THIS AROUND! Maybe it will get to someone in France!!!
I decided to be a smart-ass and reply to my cousin. I sent this:

Quote:
I'm not in the opinion of this letter. I do not support the war on Iraq. I understand that I am probably not in consensious with most of the American people and most of my family, but I am not for sanctions on France. I do believe that Bush is trying to bully the world into a war that he wants for personal reasons, such as re-election, possibly personal vendetta for his daddy(?), possibly he even has some fundy agenda(this is the scariest notion for me).
Love, Beth
I made a mistake and hit reply all. I sent this to ALL my fundy aunts and uncles as well as my Bible thumping cousins. I know they all, including my agnostic brother support this war. I have just done something very, very bad in family relations.

There was a good chance that replying to your cousin meant replying to the rest of your family anyway. This way they heard it from you instead.

Run w/ it Goddess.... let your folks rain down fire & brimstone on yer.... Some of them may be on your side. You're a grown-up now; and besides you have to set your kid a good example. Cheers, Person! Abe

Oh, man! I know how you feel. I usually prefer to fly under the radar on a personal level about such things too. I write letters to the editor of my newspaper but only use my middle initial instead of my first name to avoid conflicts on a personal level.

Good Luck. And, hey, you might find some of your relatives agree with you.

I hope some of them agree with me. But I used the bad word 'fundy' in my mail and insulted them all. That will not set well with Southern Baptists and Church of God folk.

Ah the viscious 'reply all' button. Responsible for more faux paux than any mistranslation in the history of humankind.

I agree. Run with it. If you back down now, it might look like you have no idea what you're talking about.

As to your relatives, hopefully they'll be able to respect your opinion. I personally dissagree with you on the topic of war with Iraq, but I respect your right to say so. Hopefully they will be able to as well. It is diversity that makes the US great!

Just got one reply from a cousin. Wasn't too bad. He doesn't see the need for this war either and we both agree that N. Korea is a much bigger threat.

Ah the dreaded Reply-All button.
I once had a boss who always replied to all and would CC everyone. This gave him the nickname Freddy CC.

It was such a habit that he one day accidently CC the whole company a private letter to his wife on how they havn't had sex in months.
