Actually Oolon, we do see some bizarre "legacy" attributes in real-life Intelligent Design (i.e., Human Design) situations, and such attributes might be comparable to vestigial organs/features in living organisms. If you look at the development of the PC, for instance, you will find that some rather peculiar and outdated features continue to persist for many years simply because the new designs are building on what came before. (Surely the floppy drive has become almost as vestigial as the appendix! ) This parallel does not undercut evolution per se, but it might be compatible with an evolutionary process in which ID tinkering interferes from time to time.
This reminds me of Devnet's old theory, of an Intelligent Designer who modified evolving organisms as they went along. Which would make us "Bipedal Tool-Making Primate v.6.1" or something along those lines, I suppose. |
