In "Hush", somebody was up and around (like Buffy ), and could have gotten help by some other means than talking (I discussed it with my sister who loves the show and says it is well done. I respect her opinion as she directs plays and is very good and knows what is good TV).

No big deal, I just want to make sure I don't come about as hating everything. I love poking fun and don't post often because it it so hard to get across that I was just kidding (I have a tongue I have to hold at work otherwise the complaints I have gotten would lead to more reprimands...I have gotten enough of those!).

I love British comedy. I think it's because back when I was 9, my older brother figured out to splice the cable into our room so that we could watch SelecTV (anyone remember that?). They showed all types of British film, including Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. I also enjoy watching Absolutely Fabulous. Usually I don't find women to be that funny, but those two are good.

The British just seem to have a knack with expression and phrase turning that I find hilarious; "how 'bout a kiss first boy? We shouldn't just go stampeding for the clitoris!" The Meaning of Life was a wonderful movie.

There was also a guy on channel 9 that I use to watch when I was a kid. He was English and he told jokes and did sketch comedy but I can't remember his name right now.

It's peculiar that growing up in America, I found British comedy better than American.

I've had friends who just give me the puzzled dog look when I expose them to Monty Python. (but he bought us "Final Ripoff" for Xmas anyway, what a nice guy.) I concur that it's probably genetic.

um... not to derail a perfectly good topic, but who says they didn't email in Hush? The used wipe off message boards and overhead transparencies, which is a lot better for 'in-person' stuff, but... I don't see that as a plot hole. I see lotsa plot holes, but not that one...

I like Black Adder and The Young Ones. That's it. No Python for me... A shootable offense with some of my friends.

I like Canadian comedy. SCTV, Kids in the Hall... ahhh...

I haven't been able to stomach SNL since Eddie Murphy left. Mad Tv used to be good. Sitcoms: Early Dharma and Greg, about 2 minutes of each Seinfeld, Fraiser, Blind Date, every third Simpsons, Hi Honey I'm Home, Dobey Gillis, Gilligan's Island, Get Smart... ok, now I am sraping the barrel...

I don't really get Monty Python either. Unlike at least two of my friends, one of whom has the complete collection of their sketches and has a poster on her wall, I only get some of the humor. But then again, I haven't seen gut-splitting comedy in years.

As for the rest of British comedy. I like Who's Line, the Brit version, and I liked a little of Trigger Happy TV.

American comedy: Will & Grace is well-done, I've gotta admit. Jack completely steals the show every single time, and I think most of why it's "funny" is due to his showmanship.

Friends is funny. So is The Simpsons, of course. But bad American sitcoms are atrocious. Peter Engel oughta be hanged for creating Saved By the Bell.

It just seems to me they could have gotten more help, like by posting on a message board Of course, nobody would believe them would they?
Everything happens in that one town full of problems...

Just an observation, it might not be correct, but that is what I came away after watching it.

To be brainwashed into believing that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the pinnacle of culture? Now that's comedy!

Scotty--- help from whom?

The counrty knew about the problem--- it's not like it was a shock or hidden... They were quarintined, since it could have been a 'sickness' that was causing it... I'm sure people with AIM and email were chatting it up... many geeks in the basement of Crosby Hall probably never even noticed, they were too busy on masrelay and galtrader...

ok. personal life sneaking in...

The "truth is out there" huh?
What would happen if they reported what was really happening? The series would end?

I can't argue it actually, it was the only compete episode I watched, and it was past my bedtime!
