Default Operation unIraqi Freedom

If, according to many conservatives, it is unpatriotic to oppose this war and/or dislike our president, wouldn't this same absurd logic apply to Iraqis? After all, a true patriot does not question his or her president's policies, even if that president is Saddam. Therefore, doesn't this war boil down to "patriotic" Americans liberating "unpatriotic" Iraqis?

Correct.
Patriotism now means "supporting USA interests as defined by neo-conservatives".

Ditto for "humanitarian", "liberating", and any other word you need in the political vocabulary.

Welcome to Newspeak; doubleunthinkungood !

Mind you, it makes life ever so much easier for dictionary compilers.

I wish english was my native language.
I see potential for a word play here, but I can't quite exploit it.

It makes me wonder why they called the operation such a naff name as 'operation iraqi freedom'. Why not something like 'operation inkwell' or something?

I think you're absolutely right , MB! It seems to me that "America" is that piece of old parchement we call "The Constitution of the United States of America". Without it we have no nation to be patriots of. Without it we have nothing but a lot of land that we'd still be fighting over!. So to be a "patriot" is to defend that old piece of parchement with every fiber of our being. So when a president, or a group of politicians comes along and starts tearing it to shreds, the patriotic thing to do is to attack them with whatever means we have at our disposal!
