This judge should be impeached and disbarred permanently.

probably the most disturbing thing in the whole thing was the reaction of the judge...

The judge is quite possibly senile. Hopefully, he is an elected judge and will lose his next election. If he is appointed I doubt he will be removed.

You have elected judges?! I didn't realize that. They have to be qualified before they can run for office, right?

It says in the article he's elected.

This is exactly why I complain about people just voting to retain all the judges on the ballot. Even the published recommendations seem, IMO, ridiculous. As near as I can tell, no matter what the problem, if they claim they'll try to improve, they're recommended for retention.

If you're not familiar with the specific judges, or with anything else on your ballot, you do NOT have to vote on that issue.

And yeah, that's absolutely horrific. I like, too, how she felt she had to mention that she plays no Arabic music in her house and has a six-foot Christmas tree every year.

Depends on the level of judge.

An 18-year-old with *NO* legal training became a traffic court judge in some small area (I forget where) once not too long ago. The post was being eliminated but state law didn't allow them to remove the position from the ballot until it was actually gone--so it appeared with no candidates. This kid wrote his name in. 1 vote--he won.
