I did some research, and uncovered the reason for the confusion about the mazda 13b engine. The eccentric shaft displaces 1300 cc each revolution, divided between the two rotors. However, since it takes one revolution to go through all 4 strokes, as opposed to the two revolutions of a crankshaft to do the same, it produces roughly 2-3x as much power as an equivalent piston engine.

I'm guessing there must be more to it than that, to get 2-3 times the power. What sort of compression ratio can a rotary run on ordinary pump fuel? Two-strokes typically can't run anywhere near that of a four-stroke. |

Sports cars are the best! I like driving fast; the new BMW convertible is cool, and i drove my cousin's Lexus GS 430, pretty sweet ride!
