The state senate did not bar Christian prayer. They barred a minister who refused to drop "In Jesus' name, we pray" from the end of his invocation after being given fair warning from the Sergeant at arms of the legislature. A little different.

Of course, he can always go to his tax-exempt church buiding and pray in Jesus's name. And pretty soon he can get a government grant to build a church for him.

Maryland, my birth state, claims to be the first colony to incorporate religious tolerance because they forbade discrimination against Catholics. But in 1963, they were still saying the Lord's prayer in public schools, until Madalyn Murray put a stop to it. The Jews at that time evidently decided that it was okay because Jesus was a Jew when he composed the prayer.
