Angry Jack Chick in my science room

Throughout the year, there's been a poster on the wall of my science room. For most of the year so far, I didn't look too closely at it, because from far-off it just looks like an evolution poster. However, upon looking at this poster more closely, I realized it was anti-evolution, and produced by Chick publications! It is This One. My teacher is a somewhat... "fast paced" person, so I can see how he might have put it up by accident. Anyway, apparently some other students in my class have been reading it, and are believing it. I don't want to promote the idea that "evolution is a religion" by asking my teacher to take it down, so I was thinking of maybe printing off some information that refutes the points on the poster. Anyone know of any? My school, and me as well, are all for "freedom of religion", but I really think that only facts belong in a science classroom.

In the US, in a public school, such a poster is illegal. I do not know the laws in Canada though.

If you were here, I would move this post to Church State Separation and have you go after it legally, but as you are in Canada and looking for scientific refutation of the claims, I will move it to Evo/Creation and let II's "big guns" tear Chick to shreds for you.

In Canada, from what I understand, a lot of this is left up to the individual teachers. I'd suggest, as a start, that if you think the teacher might have put it up without relaising what it is, that asking the teacher about it privately might be a good first step. That way you might get it taken down right wayw without a fuss, or you might find out more about what the teacher was thinking in putting it up. Then you could go to the next step if necessary, and you'd know where the teacher was coming from on the subject, which could be useful.

Put a sticker on it:
Something like:

"This is crap, don't believe!"

I've put an answer to that poster on my website. Sorry that I can't just put it here, but it's a point-by-point table, and I don't get to post that kind of html here in vBulletin.

Thanks a lot, pz, do you mind if I print that out and maybe tack it up beside the poster? I also promised a Christian girl that I would debunk it for her, but I bet she thinks I'm not going to do it. As for my teacher, I don't think he cares very much about "sides" when it comes to evolution, and probably just put it up because it "looks cool". I think that posting the factual info beside it would be better than just having it taken down.

Go ahead and use it freely.

But boy, if you've got a science teacher who thinks that piece of crap "looks cool", you've got problems.

I've known several high school science teachers who were about that dumb. My friend (public h.s. teacher who will remain anonymous) is just that kind of guy. He claims the physics of radioisotope dating is all wrong and...he teaches physics.

Don't forget to point out that the Chick poster simply ignores most of the important hominid finds. There's no mention at all of any Astralopithecus fossils, for example.

List some of the fossils found here and see if Chick can explain them all away.
