I used to have a little black cat who was passionate about cheese. If I was cutting cheese, I always had to give her some. Iwould throw her a cube and she would jump up and catch it in her paws.

One of my girlfriend's cats loves cheese and ice cream. The very mention of ice cream is enough to bring her running. It's so cute. I used to have a cat that was quite obsessed by 7Up. She'd sit and there at it for hours, dip a paw in, etc. It looked like bubbling water (maybe fishies?) to her I guess. My family had a pair of cats named Splash and Albert way back when. One day my mom was preparing dinner (salmon) because she and my dad were going to have guests over. Well, she left the kitchen for a moment, and when she came back 2 large fish were gone! She looked out the window, onto the fire escape, and sure enough there were two familiar looking cats running off into the alley each with fish larger than them in their mouths. Neither of them choked, so it's a funny story. Another time my parents were sitting down watching television in the kitchen when in walked Albert, carrying/dragging a live pigeon in his mouth. He was followed by Splash and then a procession of 7 neighborhood cats. I never fully believed that story (this happened before I was born) until my dad dug out a set of pictures the last time the family moved and showed me a picture, with Albert, the pigeon, Splash, and a procession of unknown cats in the apartment. The pigeon was a goner (it's neck wasn't broken but it'd been attacked pretty badly and obviously was already injured before Albert got it)...my parents traded some hot dog wieners to the cats in return for the bird, which apparently went over well.

My cat in high school eyed my eight year old goldfish for ages. I woke up one morning and walked over to the fish tank to feed them. I'd left the lid off. No fish. Just an empty tank and no sign of struggle. No water, no fish guts, nothing. Just no fish.
Sam was fast asleep on the rocking chair next the fish table, purring as he slept. |

I've never heard that before Vespertine. Very interesting.
My cat Jake devours butter like there was no tomorrow. I discovered this one day when I left a full stick of butter on the counter and went away. A few minutes later I came back into the kitchen and he was up on the counter finishing off the last of it. The bastard ate an entire stick! I was not amused, except for the fact that I found it really funny ![]() My other cat never bothers with it, but Jake still can't be trusted near the butter. If the lid is on the butter tray, he will push the tray off the counter to the floor, just to get at the butter. Every once in a while I will be woken up at 1 am by a crash in the kitchen, and I think shit! I forgot to put the butter back in the fridge. |

Plus it tastes goood. Purrrrrr. Our cat turns her nose up at just about anything I offer her, other than her cat food. She'll sniff at but won't eat a piece of meat (beef, chicken, or tuna). She'll take a few sample licks from a saucer of milk, then turn around and walk nonchalantly away. Oh, except tuna juice; she loves tuna juice. |

He was a hell of a hunter. Sometimes I cringe thinking about how many rat, bird, and gawd-knows-what parts I found on the lawn. He never ate what I think were the kidneys and often left heads. Of course, he also left more than his fair share of "gifts" for us at the front door. For some strange reason, they were almost exclusively pigieons.

Cats love butter, but I usually manage to put butter in the fridge in due time. It is more a problem with (soft) cakes with butter in the reciepe. They manage to eat them through plastic wrapping!
