"Yes, animals were not carnivorous before Adam and Eve sinned (Gen. 1:30).
Sigh...

So animals weren't carnivorous - which means they ate plants? Then plants died on account of being eaten, right? Si death DID exist before the Fall (which means they might just as well have bene carnivorous). Or didn't the Bible authors think of plants as alive? Oh, wait - the Bible is a scientifically correct document, or so we keep getting told. Which means that plants clearly weren't alive. Which means they aren't alive now. Or where's the Bible verse describing where God turned plants into living things after the Fall?

Why can't these people follow a simple train of thought in approximately a straight line and see where it leads them?

As to the evolution-gravity analogy...

A century ago, astronomer Simon Newcomb was confronted by crackpots who would vehemently deny the existence of the force of gravity. When Newcomb asked one of them if he denies the existence of a force that pulls him to the Earth, he said that it does not extend all the way to the Moon.

In effect, this crackpot believed in the existence of microgravity (near the Earth), but not macrogravity (the Moon and beyond).

OMIPU, why did you have to post that link?!

They can believe in evolution and still be a Christian, but that goes to show that they are:
1) In need of taking the Scriptures more seriously; and
2) In need of taking science more seriously (especially the laws of thermodynamics).

Evolution is a philosophy and it is a religion, it is far from being a science. After all, it is the "theory" of evolution.

So much stupidity in such a small space!

"Can christians be evilutionists?"

A. Sure, the sane ones can. They can say it is an explanation of how God made stuff using DNA as his building blocks or whatever. What you must understand is the Fundy/YEC types, for some strange reason, NEED a magical creation from their God. He must be mysterious and unfathomable to them. I said once before if God created the universe in 6 days by wiggling his noes, and scientists discovered the process that unfolds from a 'God nose wiggle' they would find this as unexceptable as evolution.

AHHHH!! <Wiping tears of laughter...>

The estimable Helen weighs in with her take on panmixis:
Quote:
Dogs... are all one species because they are all willing (if not always able, due to size) to breed with one another.

You heard it here (or there) first! Willingness to interbreed is the criterion for species membership; call this the Biological Species Concept, Horniness Version.

I guess that also makes dogs the same species as pretty much any mammal moving slow enough to hump... and more than a few inanimate objects besides.

I've met plenty of dogs that are willing (though unable) to mate with my leg...

does that mean I should call my leg Rover?

This post just screams "bible college."</strong>
Like this school?

At Creationist Academy
(to the tune of "What a Wonderful World It Would Be")

I know all about dinosaurs
I know T. Rex was an herbivore
Don't care much about a science book
Since Jonny Wells says we've all been took

But I do know I ain't know beast
And all them fossils don't impress me the least
At Creationist Academy

I know all about biology
IC/ID is the way for me
I know how to make a mousetrap work
On ARN I patriotically lurk

But I do know Mike Behe's hot
And life's impossible according to SLOT
At Creationist Academy

Now Dr Gish says that I'm an 'A' student
In Flood geology
Who needs the Big Bang or plate tectonics, baby
I've got the Vapor Canopy!

I know all about philosophy
PM/MN is a joke, you see
I know that evolution's history
Dembski's proved it mathematically

But I do hope I graduate
And schlep for Phillip Johnson at his next debate
At Creationst Academy

Cheers,

KC
