Heh, an infallible book is nothing without an infallible interpreter.

The scary thing about religion is that if you believe you have a book with all the answers in and it's infallible, how is that different from you thinking you have all the answers? Aren't you back in the place of having all the answers, then?
It`s especially scary when your infallible guidebook has been proven time and time again to be at odds with everything we know about the world.

That's where 'faith' comes in! It takes faith to believe a book like that...

Why is Christianity judged on the basis of the Christian and not on the person of Christ?

Actually, I do judge Christianity, to an extent, on the Jesus Christ character in the New Testament. (I personally think Jesus Christ is a made-up person, so I refer to him as a "character". See: The Jesus Puzzle.) I personally am not impressed by the Jesus character; I'm far more impressed by Socrates. Socrates actually reasons with people and presents arguments for his ideas; Jesus doesn't do much more than make bald pronouncements and threaten unbelievers with Hell.

What makes you think Christianity is only ever judged on the actions of Christians, and not on Bible stories?

While the invisible Jesus is playing hide and seek, his followers are being pushy and obnoxious.

Kally,

If you were willing to ask Jesus to open the eyes of your heart, you would see him.

Part of coming to faith for me 3 years ago was admitting that I didn't have all the answers and acknowledging the one who does.
So what fabulous, mystical truths has "The One Who Knoweth All" imparted to you lately, preferably ones you can share with the heathens?

Ewwwww...this reminds me of the Stephen King story (maybe in Skeleton Crew?) in which a man develops yellowish eyes on the ends of his fingers, then on his chest.

St. Robert, if you were willing to ask Kuan Yin to have mercy on you, She would. Just try it and ask Her.
