The Iraqi people don't want US occupation. Even CNN says so now. No one is unhappy to see that nut gone, but Iraq wants the US to fix the infrastructure it broke and get packing as soon as possible. Just watch the news for a while. The Shia want control. That's really going to piss Bush off. Wait, that's going to piss Falwell off. All the better! Yahaha!

I think we're eventually going to go from a repressive, brutal secular state to a repressive, brutal Islamic state.
And as Bush says, "The world is now a safer place." ![]() |

Waiting on Iraq War Three period: maybe six years, when we have to "remove the oppressive regime of Islamic Fundamentalism". This will occur shortly after we use the same justification on Iran.

It's not "the Iraqi people". It's a religious group that wants us out to make it easier for them to become the new leaders.
As usual, it's the vocal minority that gets the news coverage. |

It's not a minority, it's the Shi'ites..... who comprise around 60 % of the population. ![]() |

i'm sure folks would not want a theocracy simply because the majority of the country's population happens to identify themselves with a particular faith. that would be wrong. i should expect atheists to be more annoyed at that than falwell or his ilk.

I've feel the US invasion of Iraq was both illegal and ill-advised, but the tone of your post bothers me. It implies you're pleased that there's a possibility of a movement towards fundamentalist govt in Iraq, just because it will vindicate your views. This could be a tragedy in the making. Despite my objections to the war I dearly hope Iraq doesn't go down this road. |

strawman, like the scarecrow.
so gurdur, if iraq went to a fundamentalist shiite government you would be more pissed about it than jerry falwell? your response to loren about the 60% majority figure only appeared to legitimaze the possible desirability of such a government. unless you are not really an atheist ![]() |
