A took a hit because of this damn loaded question:
Quote:
Evolutionary theory maybe false in some matters of detail, but it is essentially true.
If I answered "true", I agree that it is false in some matters of detail, and if I answered "false", I think that evolutionary theory is false. There is no way to answer that one believes that evolutionary theory is true on matters of detail. This contradicted with my later statement that God required unequivocal proof.

How did you do?

God Bless,

I bit one bullet because I didn't read the question carefully enough. I said that certain and irrevocable proof was required to prove god's existence. In retrospect this is not the case.

I took no hits and bit one bullet for answering "true" to the question of whether God, if it existed, could make square circles.

Those of you lamenting your biting of bullets, check out the following explanation of what this means:

Quote:
You have to bite a bullet if your choices have an implication that most would find strange, incredible or unpalatable. There is more room for disagreement here, since what strikes many people as extraordinary or bizarre can strike others as normal. So, again, please do not get too upset if we judge you have bitten a bullet. Maybe it is our world-view which is warped!
So, biting a bullet is not necessarily a bad thing. I just means that you disagree with the masses.

Bastards made me bite a bullet for saying something that I believe. CHRIST! I basically said you cannot rationally debate spiritual beliefs--including my own. I actually believe that, yet those bastards made me bite the bullet! It isn't rational to believe in any god, so why the hell should I think that you can debate the existence thereof rationally? Bastards.

The thing is crocked. They made me bite one bullet for pointing out quite reasonably that since belief does not require external confirmation, a person who sincerely believed that god told him to do something "wrong" was internally justified.

Since I don't believe in God, it is irrational, illogical, and constitutes defective logic to tell me that I am biting a bullet regarding a belief that I regard as invalid. It's a simple consequence of positing the belief in the first place.

In short, it is an unpleasant result that follows from the fact belief cannot require evidence.
