Actually it was reminding me more of a Bingo session.

1) All Melbourne streets with more than 11 houses, contain a house # 12.
2) Therefore god exists.

Ooh, I think I felt a tiny shiver, spooky stuff.

I'll third that suggestion, but this was moved into S&S AFAIK. Jeez, I've had stuff more on-topic than this moved out of S&S.

BOTH LIVE IN FEAR

There is no difference at all between a believer and an atheist. Just one is afraid positively, the other is afraid negatively. The difference is only of positive and negative, but both are afraid. Out of fear the atheist says god does not exist. Once you
believe in god much more follows that has to be believed and that makes him tremble. The believer says god exists, he is afraid in a positive way. He is saying, "God exists, if I don't believe in him, if I don't praise him, if I don't pray to him, if I do not persuade him, I will be tortured."

The truly enlightened man says, god is both. God is beyond the conceptions and beliefs of both the believer and the atheist.

NEITHER ISNESS NOR NO-ISNESS... It can neither be said that he is, nor that he is not. ... NEITHER EMPTINESS NOR FULLNESS...

It can't be said that he's empty, nor said that he's full. ... SO UNFATHOMABLE, BEYOND THE SENSES.

It's so unfathomable. No word of ours can measure it. Our words are like tiny teaspoons, he is like the ocean! In these teaspoons, an ocean cannot be contained, nor can it be measured. All our measures are very small. Our hands are very small. Our capacity is very small. His expanse is infinite. He is limitless. ... SO UNFATHOMABLE, BEYOND THE SENSES.

You sit at your computer and turn it on. yet you have no faith or belief, you know it will come on, youve never seen the electrons that run your computer, but you have seen the results on you screen.

Youve never seen the creative force that exists as electromagnetic energy in the universe, but you have seen the results, in the world and universe about you.

No believing is necessary, it simply is , its all electric, all photons.

Spirit is just a religious word used by ancient people to try and explain something they had no words for, like electricity.

All living organisms are electrical and bear a certain charge of electrical energy as well as polarity.

All is manifested by the electrical universe.

NightWatchMan, let me put this in the nicest possible way: you're a crank. Go away, for the good of everyone concerned.

I was hoping someone would address the specific flaws in the science. Books like "The Dancing Wu Li Masters" sell well because many laypeople accept the 'science' they are given because they do not know better.

This group does. And as such, I was hoping that members would quickly explain some of the things alluded to (ex. particles --> light) for the sake of the many non-scientific lurkers in this forum (many of whom have read 'The Tao of Physics' but will never pick up a book by Gribbon or Feynman).

IMO, we complain that people do not take the time to see beyond the elementary (and fallacious) connections made in popular 'New Age' arguments, but then dismiss them as 'not worth responding to'. How will such thinking ever be combated if we remain comfortable in the idea that those who need to understand, understand, and for the rest, it does not matter? Can we still, then, complain about Redfield books on the bestseller list?

In Elsewhere (I moderate in both), it would be more likely to become about the individual that the topic (which it seems to have here, unfortunately).

So on that note, we'll put this to bed.
