It's the bad acting I can't stand.

honestly...stop being so whiny, self obssessed, and depressed (b/c you are better than everyone no less). no one finds those things attractive. i mean, even if you DID find someone on your "intelectual level", [edited insult, CG]

others have said it over and over, the same "intellectual level" doesnt mean the same opinions.

and OH MY GOD THEY WERE FAIRLY RELIGIOUS. so. fucking. what. as long as they dont care about your beleifs, why should you care about theirs?

Actually, given the threads we see in sec support, he's right to be wary of religious partners. Deepseated worldview differences undermine a relationship. I, myself, will no longer date men who conider themselves "spiritual" at all, let alone "fairly religious."

Of course, I still have enough men to choose from, perhaps because I'm one of those mythical girls who plays computer games. Also, I've perfected a tone of tongue-in-cheekness to use when I'm insisting on how unique and special I am....

Wary doesn't mean completely ruling them out. Plenty of people here have relationships with christians...if its not an issue in the relationship, why does it matter?

mmk...was just trying to give you some constructive criticism, but obviously you wont even contemplate that the problem might be with your attitude. its hard to get help when you wont help yourself.

Pariah: Actually, I'm (gasp!) with Dark Cobra on this one. You're trolling. How many relationships do you know of that actually manage to stay healthy for an extended period of time when people have mutually exclusive belief systems? NOT MANY. Anyhow, WRT to his comment on "they don't need to, say, be good at computers or like computer games.", it's called "giving an example". Ease off. There's a difference between 'Christian' and 'actively Christian', and that difference is the line between a possible relationship and a probable trainwreck.

So, back on topic...

I do understand that I wish for something that doesn't exist.
Cobra: Huh? What you're looking for, then, is perfectly normal. There are probably people out there who fit that description, although the "as rational as me" bit might be a bit awkward. (What the hell does it mean? Are you saying you're 89.35% rational, and you want someone who's also 89.35% rational? How is it scored???) As for finding out that people to whom you were attracted were really not all that attractive, good. You've proven yourself smarter than a lot of guys our age, who will go through with a relationship with someone they really don't like just for the sake of some play.

Regardless, I say you're too skeptical of the whole relationships thingand yeah, college is an entirely different social system as compared to high school, because there isn't anywhere near as much of the whole "A knows B, who hangs out with C, so D shouldn't talk to A because E doesn't like B" thing. If you don't get a girlfriend during high school, fine. You'll probably get one in college. If not, fine. You'll probably get one later in life, provided you actually go out and, like, socialize.

[mod hat]

This is obviously a touchy subject for a few people here, but please refrain from insults and name-calling.

We want this to stay a discussion, not a flame volley.
