From this also follows that it was wrong to part the waters to get to the promised land. Rather we must walk on top of the water and into the promised land.
I don't know about these specific interpretations but of course Chaos isn't the only thing water can be said to represent. For example, inner peace can be represented by the still waters behind a dam--calm, but concealing immense power. And of course water is universally recognized as as symbol of life.

I think it's more the ocean, not water itself, that represents Chaos in many myths.

I'm assuming that if a boat is found up there, they'll take it as proof that the story is real, so I'm wondering: Does that work both ways?

Few things would amuse me more than if this puzzling mountain-side object in Turkey turned out to be the remnants of a giant wooden sign that says "Christians suck".

Exactly, it is the voluminous of water that can create both the tempest (flood) and the tranquility of life.

In Coriolanus the woman that pulled the strings from behind the scene was called "Volumnia" for this reason. Valeria was valor and Virgilia was virginal chastity of the conscious mind.

Maybe we should rent a chopper and put one up there.

Strangely enough in kindergarten we had a speaker come in (I was attending private school at the time) and tell us that they had found Noah's Ark and that he had seen it. WTF? Of course a room full of 5 and 6 year olds believed it.

Seems like the story that someone had just found Noah's Ark circulated every few years through the different churches that we went to (along with crazy stuff like "photographic evidence" of the Ark of the Covenant buried under Golgotha complete with human blood that had dripped down on it that genetically proved that the blood came from a person born via divine means )

It is amazing what kinds of utter crap otherwise intelligent people will believe if it supports their religious beliefs.

OMFG, I can just imagine the people who were commissioned to build and launch this satellite trying to keep a straight face while their client was chattering all excitedly about finding the big boat that all the animals lived on!
Actually it's kind of sad. What a waste of human vision and ingenuity.

The thing should be easy to spot from space; it'd have to be bloody HUGE!

So, they're wasting more money to run this sattelite to search for a myth.

Incredible.

I want someone to give me a bunch of money to search for the leprechaun with the pot of gold.
Wait a sec, if they give me the search money, I don't need the pot of gold!

The nation whose major contribution to the modern world has been computer viruses has announced plans to build a Noah's Ark as a tourist trap, er, attraction.

Bulgaria to build a Noah's Ark

It is to be built in a Black Sea resort town. It is only going to be 112 meters long, and will contain pairs of animals and actors representing Noah and family. The rational is that some think that flooding the Black Sea was the basis for the flood legend.

Quote:
"Troy has its Trojan horse, Romania has Dracula - we will have our Noah's Ark," Mr Kanchev told reporters.
(The legend of Dracula is a western fantasy that Romanians learned to exploit.)
