Okay, on a more serious note -
Why don't they learn more about the different cultures and religions, and simply have more holidays and celebrations in cultural contexts? The way they are going they will simply homogenise everything in to a tasteless, beige blancmange of boring nothingness. Societies will be less diverse as everyone gets carried away in their tragicomedy of manners. PC hell. Bring in the colour, I say! Something happened along those lines in Glasgow a couple of years ago, it was a primary school I think. I think it was about banning the christmas service but anyway the powers that be hadn't wanted to offend the ethnic minority.
There was such an outcry from parents (cries of "fuck right off" being the main form of protest) that the school had to back down. Even the press got into it more or less saying the same thing. Nothing like that has been tried since and it's unlikely to ever again and that was just about a crimbo service never mind santa. Glaswegians just wouldn't take it. I can just see some keelie from the east end being told there would be no santa for their "weans" this year due to not upsetting the ethnic minorities.....dearie me it would be WW3. |
