He did ram his claws through Rouge and Mystique in X1. In both cases, a normal human would have died, but Rogue borrowed his healing ability, and Mystique's being a shapechanger probably saved her. In X2 Wolverine was allowed to kill, but not to the extent that the comics have depicted. His actions were largely bloodless, when in reality he would have been bloodied up to his elbows at the very least.

In a movie like X2, I agree, Wolverine's activities should be made more sanitary, but to properly convey his nature, an 'R' rating would be necessary. I'd love to see John Woo direct a Wolverine move. I think it would become a classic.

The film isn't trying to portray reality. I also noticed "numerous references to evolution" in the offenses to god section :banghead:
You know when CAPalert says that a film is an offence to morality, that you have to go and see it. Even if only the once.

Anyway, I saw it, and thought it was top-notch. I would say more, but I'm not an X-men geek like everyone here, so I don't know much about what's going to happen. But that scene with Nightcrawler in the White House was the coolest thing ever. Frankly, I wouldn't have thought Alan Cumming had it in him

(Also, re. the bit where Pyro says that the gene is carried by the father...is it not possible that he just made a mistake? After all, not everyone listens properly in class. I certainly didn't always.)

Yeah, I interpreted that line more as "smarmy teenager" than "actual workings of the X-Men universe".

Saw it yesterday. Enjoyed it immensely.

I saw X1 in theaters back in 2000, but I remember so little of it that I can't comment on X2 in light of the original. I hope the film an X3.

(SPOILERS)

A couple comments:

-Too bad Pyro joins the "bad guys" at the end. I would have enjoyed him more as a "good guy," but I guess there needs to be wider opposition.

-I was sorry to see that Jean Grey dies at the end. I really liked her presence in the movie. However, I was told by someone that she is supposed to return, in fact. Being that I have not read a word of the X-Men comics, I know nothing about the storyline. For those of you who are familiar with the comics, could you clue me in on what Grey's future holds?

SPOILER

She returns as the Phoenix, a being of extraordinary power. The problem is that the power begins to corrupt her and she becomes, not only evil, but an exceedingly powerful evil that the X-men have to defeat. There's much more to the Phoenix saga, but what I said is the jist of it...I never did buy Marvel's attempts to bring Jean Grey back again sans Phoenix.

It probably was a joke, because if the gene is carried only by the father it would be on the Y-chromosome, which of course would mean that there'd be no such thing as female mutants.

I remember reading something put out by Marvel in the mid-nineties that stated that mutant powers arise from mitochondria being able to do nuclear fussion.

Ah, memory lane... That is where Michael Korvac, a cripple from the future beats the Avengers (where in the Marvel continuum, his girlfriend doubted his goals for a moment) and turns them into his elite fighting force. In his blind pursuit of order, Korvac grew more powerful and absorbed every single human being on earth's lifeforce and challenged the manifestation of the universe, Eternity with the "ultimate nullifier." He wipes out the universe, stamps out "becoming" or change, and in the final panels, the manifestation of Death is reveling in victory over the oblivion of everything. Classic!
