If you way overheat teflon it will decompose. It ceases to be non-stick. It's also quite dangerous to birds in the house.

The pancakes themselves did not taste right, though... and interestingly enough they turned green when doused with blueberry syrup.
Speaking of pancakes:

I was making waffles. The batter just didn't seem quite right--the waffles were a disaster. Then I figured out that the container of waffle mix (not the original box--an airtight one to keep out bugs) was really a container of flour.

Once, while making my world famous meatloaf (OK, only 1 person raves about it), I decided I'd use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder, so I bought a bulb of garlic at the grocery store. I usually cook by the seat of my pants (sans recipe, not pants), so I figured 1 clove of garlic would be sufficient. Well, since I hadn't used fresh garlic before, I thought the bulb was 1 clove! After mincing about 5 or 6 cloves, I thought that HAD to be enough garlic. Needless to say, I needed several pieces of gum after that dinner.

It's a big family joke that I can't be within 5 feet of anything being cooked without it burning, melting, drying out, caving in, etc. However anyone who starts a kitchen-related conversation with my mother will hear stories about her oldest daughter.......

-Setting fire to foil-wrapped hamburger in microwave. (1x)
-Setting fire to frozen pizzas. (3-4x)
-Setting fire to marshmallows (cooked over an oven burner, several on a skewer) and melting part of the kitchen blinds in a desperate flinging attempt to put them out... (1x)

And yet, I make THE best linguini in clam sauce and banana bread. <nose in air>-
