This is a Vauxhall VX220 in the UK, or an Opel Speedster in the rest of Europe. Retail price is about $35,000. It's made of plastic and Aluminium, so kerb weight is light: 850kg (1873 lb). A 2.2L normally aspirated engine takes it 0-60mph in 5.2s. Pin-sharp steering. More fun than a bag full of bunnies.

Cons: getting in and out requires a spine made of rubber, it's really tricky!; not much more storage space than your average motorcycle (just enough for a weekend away); no aircon; 2-speaker stereo; no power steering, parking can be hard going; in the snow and ice, the back end which gets the drive has a mind of its own.

But it's worth it! (Well, at least when it isn't snowing like it has been all week.)

You should test drive a Honda del Sol, Oxymoron. You might find many of the same things you like about the VX220 in it. (Lightweight, peppy, agile, fun to drive...)

I'm hoping that my new auto, a 2001 Honda Accord, will have such longevity. I was very pleased to be able to pay cash for it.

Down with car payments!

I don't have any disdain for them other then both of them had problems starting when it was really cold outside (which really sucks).

No I destroyed them, by driving them too fast and pushing them too hard -- you live and you learn. I've been without a license so long I would settle for anything, and treat it with much more caution. I think next time I'll go with a Toyota or Honda though.

Oxymoron that car is dope.

Shadowy Man that picture makes me heartsick for my first car, a 1989 Toyota Camry, one of the last years you could get a V6 and a stick.

Ronin who knows, with budget cuts you may drive something similar again.

Here's my baby. She has 4 wheel drive and is supposed to be my winter beater, but the heat doesn't work so she's reserved for when there's at least 4 inches of snow and the temperature's above 25. She has various problems and idiosyncracies and dollar for dollar is probably the most financially irresponsible impulse I've ever indulged. Plus right now the battery is dead. Her name is Lurch.

My primary car is a Saturn. I'll get a picture up soon.

I feel so boring (and kinda impoverished). We have a maroon 1991 Volvo 240 wagon, which is my car, and a 1973 Volkswagen van (in Expo 74 colors even!) which is my husband's baby. He also has a rare double double door van from the 1960's, which he's allegedly going to refurbish enough to sell to a collector. Right now it's sitting behind the garage.

I really want a new Bug. Heck, I told Mr. Ab I'd even take a nicely refurbished classic Bug for a commuter. But we've got to get sewer installed. Sigh.

Then again, we own all of them outright. That's got to be worth something.

Godless Dave

I used to own a similar beast to yours but not as well kept. Dodgy brakes, unreliable electrics, leaky radiator, no air-con (not good in the tropics) and a few holes in the body work. It was a tasteless light green colour but at least it was cheap and negotiated the potholes fairly well. The person I sold it to crashed it and wrote it off 6 months later.

My current beast is a 10 year old Nissan Navara twin cab 4WD ute, practical for the conditions here but hardly any persons idea of a dream car. Sorry but no picture.

Default Hahahaha!

Well, I did a Google search for "Mad Max" images, just to see if I could post a "dream car" here - and look what I found:

Mad Max

Oh, I don't think so....

I lease one like this (color is called "Desert Silver Metallic"):

2002 Acura RSX Type S

I own one like this (color is "Chili Pepper Red Pearlcoat" )

1998 Dodge Durango

After having driven the Acura for a while, I feel like I need a harbor pilot and a tugboat to get the Durango out of the garage.
