Great Nutwatch, QoS. Good (??!) to know we have some fundies to laugh at on this side of the Atlantic, too

Pants? Is this some British slang or does the Creator of the universe normally address his clothing? Whats next, Thong, that burnt offering smells great?
"Pants" is roughly equivalent to "crap" but politer. It's been in use around five years or so. Can also be used as an adjective, as in, "What a pants car." ("Thong" is funnier, tho' )

It is especially curious how they seem to agree with Osama bin Laden and his fellow militant Islamists that those kamikaze hijackings are a punishment for America's sins.

Default "pants"

As TW says above, the term 'pants' has been used in England as a mildly pejorative term for a few years now. However rather than being British slang I thought it originated in The Simpsons .

PS: I don't watch the programme myself; I tend to avoid any programme where everyone has a yellow head - excepting the odd Chinese film.

Thanks, Treacle. I get my limited knowledge of British slang from Enid Blyton and Only Fools and Horses, so this one flew right by me.

You're welcome; I can see how Enid B & Only Fools & Horses aren't quite up with modern idiom

I think what Dibble is thinking of is the phrase "Eat my shorts". I don't recall "pants" being used in The Simpsons, and I do watch it <shrug>

The most outlandish such claim, in my opinion, was that G-d was punishing America for being soft on homosexuals (yeah, right, if only). I asked in another forum why G-d would punish America for that particular sin, while leaving the Netherlands unscathed. None of the true believers deigned to acknowledge the question.

Yes I think you're right, but if I only talked about things I actually know about I'd have a much smaller post count

OMG! Like did u c the prayr xchang section? they coodnt spel 2 sayv there lyves! :banghead: I left a little message of my own berating their spelling. It probably won't get posted though. It says they moderate, and offensive stuff won't get posted, but they "don't edit" requests either. Huh?

If you follow some of their drop-downs from the main page, there is a link to questions about many things. The following comes from the 'Sex' section, where the question is, "Is masturbating wrong?"
Quote:
Challenge Team: Sexual activity is meant to be an expression of love between two people. Masturbation is selfish and about gratifying personal desires, where as a lifestyle of chastity is about being able to give love, appreciation and respect. Masturbating is often done as a part of unhealthy fantasies about someone, and often linked with pornography. We need to guard against sex being reduced to a purely selfish and physical level - sex is so much more precious than that.
Right! OF course there's NO WAY this could be used as a safe alternative to sex! [/sarcasm] Geez, c'mon, with all of those raging teen hormones, couldn't it be a safe release? Besides, at least it's sex with someone you love.

Question A few questions for QoS

Where do you get your subject matter?
Is there an index?
Or some sort of archive other than on II?
How long does it take you to do a typical 'Nutwatch'?
How do you decide how much/which parts of a site to respond to?
I was just wondering if people email you with new ideas or if you pick some of them up from people's posts here. As for the last question, I know the sites could perhaps be broken up into their own 'Nutwatch' editions if you so chose. I take it you largely stay with the main page or some such thing.
