Fuck that shit, no one is putting a backdoor on my nix system. Even if they shut down peer to peer, I still have irc and ftp.

Yeah. I know a guy that refuses to apply any microsoft patch at all. Instead, he deconstructs them, reads the code, fixes any bugs he finds (and he ALWAYS finds at least one), and installs THAT. And occasionally e-mails microsoft with the really bad bugs he finds.

OS backdoors might stop the casual user, but won't even put a dent in the actual cracking activities.

Yep, Wired is carrying the story. Seems Hatch is using code for a menu system on his website without having purchased a license for it.

They can't do that. That would be them taking matters into their own hands which is/should be illegal. There is no "innocent until proven guilty" if this takes place. When you download a song, you don't always know if it is copywrited or not. Sometimes the song you tried to download turns about to be a completely different song all together.
