OK so my fiance is out of town. Traditionally, when the cat is away the mice should play right? Going to a strip club is probably in order and my girlfriend certainly expects it. Problem is none of my friends are willing or able to go. Would it be weak to go on my own?

Why would you want to go somewhere and spend money on something you can't have? Why would you want to frequent an establishment that objectifies women? Or were you talking about a male strip joint? If that's the case it's OK, go right ahead. I just fail to see the attraction, I've been in strip clubs maybe a half-dozen times and haven't enjoyed the experience at all, probably just the realization that I can't have sex with one of the dancers or gratify myself in any way while I'm in their presence.... or, it's just a turn-off to me. Give me a regular old bar or pool hall anyday, the drinks are usually cheaper and there's nobody nagging you for unearned tips or table dances at $25-40 a whack.

The only amusement I've ever had in them was hearing the stories the dancers tell when asked. I think they've been trained to give nearly the same stories every time, such as "I live alone with my 3 year old kid. My kid is the center of my life and I don't have time for a boyfriend or a social life." or "I'm working my way through school, which keeps me really really busy." "Boo-hoo, feel sorry for me and give me many many dollar bills." is what they're really saying. I hate that they must resort to this form of begging.

I wouldn't advise going alone, but if you do, make sure to not drive while intoxicated. And remember, most probably you ain't going to wake up in bed with one of these ladies.

I too enjoy viewing the female form without expecting sex every time. However, some of the gyrations of the dancers in these places are suggestive of just exactly that, an attempt to arrouse male sexuality in order to extract money. Since I am fairly easily arroused, all I am left with is frustration and a lighter wallet. Nope. I'd rather go see a good movie or go for a drive than go to a strip club.

Absolutely asinine.

I am of the opinion that you don't really know what you're talking about in this area.

The fact is, these women make decent money and many of them are indeed putting themselves through school, and providing for hungry kids, and they are coming by it honestly. They are not out on the streets selling drugs or doing other illegal things. They are making an honest living, and I fail to see how that could be amusing.

OK, maybe I crossed a line there, but to me it is glorified begging, asking for unearned monies.

It is only because of the way they tell their stories, it's like their reciting a script of some kind because they all sound so similar. How many people even bother to try to strike up a conversation with a stripper? Not many from my observation. Amusement was perhaps the wrong word, but it was the closest thing to amusement I found in strip clubs. I just am not entertained by such displays. I don't deny women the right to make money, support themselves and their families or to go to school, by whatever means, that is not what I was downgrading. I just find it hard to see them submit themselves to this sort of degradation to do so. I'll admit my experience with strip clubs is very minimal, and my knowledge of strippers and their lives is even less. Hell, quite a few of them probably enjoy exposing themselves to strangers, I don't know. So, I'll not comment any further. I've shared my experience and opinion on it, take it for what it's worth, just about as much as your opinion.
