Red face Friday the 13th

Try not to step on any black cats and remember to throw salt over your shoulder if you break a mirror inside.

Does anyone still entertain this concept, or know someone who does? Any interesting origin stories? the less plausible the better.

Trivia point: The 13th is more likely to be Friday than any other day of the week, in the Gregorian calendar.

One version of the unluckiness of 13 is of course the Last Supper, but I'm not sure what day that fell on ...

I have my first summer school exam tomorrow. They announced at orientation, "Your first exam is on Friday the 13th." You should have heard the gaps and groans.

I was flipping my calendar before I left work, and I told my boss, "Tomorrow is Friday the 13th." And he said, "Make sure you wear black." I've never heard of that before. I think I'll wear black just for fun. And it's so slimming!

I heard the 13 comes from the number of people at the last supper, ie Jebus and 12 Apostles. Friday comes from the supposed fact that Jebus got crucified on a Friday.

Hmmm... first I've heard of it, either. However, there must be something to it, since it's almost 3 am on Friday the 13th, and I'm at work, wearing black pants, sneakers, and a black t-shirt (one which says, in large white letters, "Never knock on Death's Door. ...Ring the bell and run. HE HATES THAT!"). Good for my paycheck, anyhow.

Also, if black is slimming, what color will make me look like *less* of a twig? I know it's oft considered desireable for women to appear slender, but, for us guys, it's not particularly advantageous to dissapear when we turn sideways...
