GTX,
While this is a free discussion board, please keep in mind it is the internet infidels. Nearly everyone here accepts evolution, and some of us grow weary with creationists getting in the middle of certain threads pertaining to evolutionary theory (not whether it is true or not, but rather the specifics of it). Imagine this scenario: You are at a christian forum, and there is a thread specifically about a chapter in the bible and what it means. Then an atheist shows up and says, 'it's all wrong, it doesn't mean anything.' Well that atheist should expect to be attacked (at the least, not surprised). Oh, and here at ii - we don't ban you for having opinions, we just make you back them up! While some people's debate styles are more "forceful" than others, you also have to realize that your ideas, and you as a person, are separate. As a scientist, I expect my ideas to get shot down. I do encourage you to keep posting here--I and others have enjoyed and appreciated your posts. But don't expect everyone here to coddle you, when you spout the same stuff that others have done so many times before. scigirl Oh and pz - be nice! Thanks scigrl, but I don't want to be coddled, the question seemed to be aimed at non-evolutionists, so the second I post what sounds like bunk I get attacked, how can you have a diverse membership, when the bandwagoneers insist on looking cool by putting someone down?
You will find I am an open minded and cordial contributer to this forum, and will continue to be, but if some creationists or unsure people get treatment like this, you will have a forum filled with people who all believe the same thing, what fun or how educational is that? I am not personally bothered, I eat lots of Rhino skin , but at the same time I am not going to be treated like crap because some members just want to try to belittle, so they can sound so smart and cool, when in reality they don't look cool at all. |

Thanks for the links scigrl, but do those links completely make the thread useless? If those are all debunking links, does it not make the thread kind of redundant and rhetorical?

We may be a bit biased, and one sided. Sure. But at least we don't eliminate the competition, like so many christian forums do. Some people here will not like you, I guess you just have to deal with it. For every poster that offends you, I hope you find 10 others that are fine. scigirl |

You want facts, yet you want to criticize evolutionary biology by posting vague, silly misconceptions, such as that evolution somehow presumes that alligators will evolve into humans? I agreed with you that that is total bunk. I also pointed out that it is not a claim made by evolutionists. Your little list was shallow and revealed that you really don't know much about evolution; your final comment, which was a statement of personal incredulity, was therefore valueless. If that pisses you off, be prepared to be cranky a lot. Oh, and if you really want facts, try posting something substantive and detailed about any one of your four assertions. It's not easy to provide facts in response to something as vague and misleading as "Unexplained missing transitional fossils". |
