Everybody needs to hear this, no matter what boards you regularly post on.
If you're going to post on a board with biased moderation, you must do it with a cool head, especially if the bias works against you. Although certain cliques are allowed to get away with much shenannagans, stooping to their level is what the they want. That gives them an excuse to get rid of posters whose positions they disagree with. In many instances they have a "target" list and the staff is just waiting for an excuse to get rid of their targets. Sympathetic staff members are no help, because the mob mentality works against them and they don't like to rock the boat. I've seen it happen on BaptistBoard; I've seen it happen on ChristianForums, and I see TheologyWeb working towards that. If you can't handle flaming nutjobs without catching fire yourself, turn off your computer and take the dog for a walk. |
