good point nial!

i'm 28 and i use my thumb a lot although i had to use my finger (next to my thumb) in order to play stuff like 'double dragon' or if i go back to the very first one i ever played (in a fish and chip shop) space invaders.

so if we want to prevent space invaders we need a faster finger or thumb!?

I see laments about the speed and complexity of todays society as frivolous whining from a pampered population.

We live in a society that is so isolated from the fears and terrors that have haunted humanity since pre-history. We are suffering from the worst drought in our nation's history here in Canada, yet NO ONE is being threatened with starvation. The leading causes of death are diseases of the aged.

The fact that some people are overwhelmed with the range of activities and information is not an argument against their proliferation. There are millions of people who take advantage of the increased opportunities, and live fulfilled and even happy lives. The difference lies not in the external realm of things and gadgets and information, But instead in the internal minds of each of us.

If your life is too complex, simplify it. Stop watching television, or stop taking your kids to piano class, or stop worrying about whether your shoes match your belt. Make your life as complex as you want it to be. But don't blame everyone else for making things that they enjoy.

we had a drought in England a few years ago, but that was only because someone owns the water, can't be arsed to fix the pipes, and sells it to the french.

I think you're right mad mordigan- but sometimes those who take advantage do so at others expense. In the name of progress, people are worked to death and blown away.
