Hmm, granted... But I wonder... I feel terribly out of place doing things that I used to enjoy - going to gigs and clubs, for example - merely by feeling old, at least in comparison with those around me... How about being a hundred and fifty years older than those around you are?

I still recall employing the first 'senior' programmer on my team that was born PSW... (Post-Star-Wars),,, Made the rest of us feel like dinosaurs! Especially when the new guys didn't know any of our 'reference points' (and you need to be British to catch some of these; you'll have your own) such as Bagpuss, The ghosts of Motley Hall, The Goodies, Jamie and the magic torch, et al...

Or maybe I've watched too many episodes of 'Futurama'?

Ok.. so... as soon as you pay your bill for 150 years of constant medical care, and the reviving fee, we'll let you go. Otherwise, who are you gonna complain to? You're dead. We have your death certificate on-file. You don't even have a social security number anymore.
'That would be the 200 grand I paid 150 years ago. Alcor doesn't do credit. What's that? You want more? Here... here's another 5 million from the trust fund I set up in my name before I was ostensibly killed, now just legally injured. Ain't compound interest great? Oh yes, it's in modern currency.... just a matter of planning ahead and writing out legal documents very carefully...'

I've encountered that too... mostly it's a matter of getting used to it. I mean hell... if I have the body of a 20 year old, I don't care if a real 20 year old has any clue as to what kind of cultural references I know.

Oooh, I dream of having the body of a 20 year-old...

Ah, no hang on. Oh, in that sense?

You may be right, but I'd at least have to teach everyone around me the words to 'Creep' (ooh, nasty flashback to the Buck Rogers film; where he 'introduces' everyone at a synth-pop-party to 'Rock and Roll'... Cringe. Maybe jettisoning culural reference points would be a bloody good thing.)..

My proof-reading is terrible. But that may be the half-bottle of Sambuca I've been forced to drink...

And with proper preparation? Oops.... contract isn't IN the original country anymore. Contract is renegotiated in Switzerland. Likewise with financial accounts. (Left in a tonteen style trust fund of course, with your attorney and his/her successors being paid a percentage out of the interest, thereby giving them additional, purely financial incentive to keep things current.)

We can keep yammering about this all day. What it boils down to is that it's not foolproof... which we're aware of. Duh. However, it can be narrowed down to an acceptable level of risk, to the point where just about the only thing that can go wrong is someone involved being genuinely spiteful and evil to someone they don't even know. Most people just aren't that way... going out of your way to do harm to a complete stranger is unusual in most cultures.
