Default Gregory Hines dies of cancer

Gregory Hines Dies of Cancer at 57:
Quote:
LOS ANGELES - Gregory Hines, the greatest tap dancer of his generation who transcended the stage with a successful screen career that included starring roles in "White Nights" and "The Cotton Club," has died at 57.

Hines died of cancer Saturday in Los Angeles, publicist Allen Eichhorn said Sunday.

With his smooth, solo tap style reminiscent of Fred Astaire, Hines became internationally known at a young age as part of a jazz tap duo with his brother, Maurice. He won a 1992 Tony Award for the musical "Jelly's Last Jam."

Unhappy

What a shame. I was never able to see much of his work, but he once guest starred in Law & Order, and he was superb.

I think his death was a major loss to the film and TV industry. Also very good performances in Renaissance man, and although i see a bit more of him then i like, least in one scene and any mel brooks fan should know what im talking about, good performance in History of the World Part 1

Cool

I know very little about dancing, but I loved him and Baryshnikov in "White Nights".

Cool.

He was a great dancer, and the world is worse off without him.
