Default Bingo!

Darwin's Beagle: That's it! You ever have one of those "it's right on the tip of my tongue" moments? That's what Froehlich was arguing about: the genus Hyracotherium needs to be reassessed because paleontologists have stuffed a bunch of different critters into a single genus. Hence the reference to polyphyly. Gakh, I'm stupid. I was letting the cretinist define the debate, allowing him to conflate genus and species. You'd think after all this time I'd know better. Thanks a million - especially for the Linnean Society reference.

Hey Morpho, I just went to check if there’s been any replies to your magnificent post, and can’t find that thread! (The link above goes to a different one now ) I’ve done a search too, and no joy. Where’s it gone? Could you link it again please?

Cheers, DT

Oh bloody hell. Percy did a software upgrade on Friday - looks like the thread disappeared during the switch. I sent him an email asking "what happened". I have a copy on my computer if it needs to be reposted. In the meantime, ignore the link I provided above. Thanks for bringing it to my attention...

Okay, Percy restored the lost thread. It's here if anyone's interested.
