Default "Dead Like Me" replaces Star Trek for me

I finally got to see "Dead Like Me", a new show on Showtime. My supervisor TiVOed it for me and I must say I loved it. Everything about it. The characters, the actors, the story, the deaths (killed by a space toilet seat--can you beat that?), the opening music, even the font for the credits.

I have always loved Star Trek and considered it my favorite show. Not anymore.

I'd really like to see that show, but I don't want to pay for Showtime to get it.

I am really loving Dead Like Me. I just got Showtime on a special offer, but I will definitely renew it when it expires so that I can continue to watch just this one show!

Unhappy

Frankly, trekbette, I and probably many former Trekkers are amazed that you or anyone could still be Trekking at all.

OK, clicked the Big Green Button and got a Season Pass. I'll let you know...

Thumbs up

I'm also loving it. My wife and I are both hooked. The offbeat characters and story lines have really pulled us in.

And Mandy Patinkin as Rube...heh!

I'm still at the point where I'll take any Trek I can get. And when you watch Enterprise while attempting not to think too hard, it's not so bad.

I'm a huge fan of Six Feet Under, which Dead Like Me seems to be ripping off, and DLM, like many of the other SFU rip-offs seems to have gotten it wrong about the afterlife. In SFU, no afterlife is implied other than in the imaginations of the living. Does DLM, which I haven't seen, portray the afterlife facestiously or seriously?

I've sat through a couple of SFU episodes and it was painful. I was bored out of my mind. Its way to much of a soap opera for me. Deal like me I think is nothing like SFU other than they both deal with death but in totally different ways.

Dead Like Me does insinuate that there is something after death but all the characters are as baffled by it as the rest of us. It does appear that each persons afterlife is what they would expect of it. For example a little girl dies and she is rewarded with a celestial carnival. A Irishman dies and is rewarded with the White Cliffs of Dover etc.

I think that Dead Like Me is one of the most clever shows made in the last 20 years easily. I especially like the excuses George uses with her boss. The cat named rimjob was classic and the getting out of the scrapbook meeting becuase of a "heavy flow day".

For those of you haven't seen it yet, its time to make friends with someone who has Showtime.

I wish I got Showtime, HBO, etc. so I could see "SFU," "Queer as Folk," and "Sopranos."

I am a huge Trek fan, and will never let go. I don't bother with Enterprise; give me my TNG and DS9.
