Bruce Dickinson (Accident of Birth + Chemical Wedding albums are by far his best)
Children of Bodom Cynic (Bizarre but interesting mix of death metal and jazz. Actually soothing, in an odd way. Very, very skilled musicians as well.) Death Edguy (Kinda cheesy, but I like it) Einherjer Gamma Ray Liquid Tension Experiment (download Acid Rain or Paradigm Shift. You won't regret it. Excellent prog rock project) Sonata Arctica Stratovarius Symphony X Not all of 'em are new-ish, I realize, but ah well. |

Of any recent era Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Soundgarden(and other Cornell projects) are, to me, the best. Of the more recent, I am attracted to the sound of Deftones although they are extremely inconsistent. I also enjoy "some" songs from Linkin Park, Disturbed and others, but nothing new really speaks to me like Alice in Chains did. But the best band of all time is most likely Pink Floyd anyway. When I was about 17 though, I would have said the Doors believe it or not. /shrug. Now i'm kinda interested in Techno, which seems to have great potential but I have a hard time finding anything good. The best electronic music that I have found so far is Joy Electric, and I can easily overlook his Xtian bent because I love it that much. The fact that I like Joy Electric so much brings me plenty of grief. I have yet to find another living person that enjoys them. If anyone knows their sound and could recommend anything similar, I would greatly appreciate it! |
