Also reason states that in order for something to exist it must be necessary? Say a Diest type god does exist and created the universe, it wouldnt have to be an interactive god. God may still be necessary to run the universe (or perhaps it is no longer doing anything). Just because god is no longer doing things or interacting with people does not make god dissapear.... if that was true then 3/4ths of government workers would vanish... (if only... ) Perhaps it would be no longer worthwhile to worship that god...but that doesnt invalidate its existance |

Well, God can exist. It just depends on how you define it.
My boyfriend for one, believes that God is just the forces that created the universe. Not dead, not alive, just is. He doesn't feel the need to worship such a being, and doesn't really care either. I personally don't see the point to calling it a God then, but he insists on calling it a God so I let him. |

Sounds like someone I know ... except he is a Hindu cum Buddhist. I just notice something reading the last paragraph. In most religions, it didn't show any reasons why a person needs to pray to God. Abrahamic religions attend to say that it is as an act of remembering God because people who forgot God attend to do all sort of things but from what I had experienced, people who prays 5 times a day also not seems to do better either. They also say it is to keep their convent with God ... can't say much about that since I don't understand the whole deal. Hindus Gods such as Vishnu and Shiva stated (through the books of course) that praying is a mental exercise (and I agree). Buddhism don't seems to push it's followers to pray and most of it's mental exercise seems to come from meditating. |

I thought that it was through prayer that you gain the ability to move mountains or something...
Or is it faith? Well, whatever it is, I have yet to meet anyone who has managed to acheive it. |

Faith, NOT prayers which brings your abilities (but whether you can move mountains is a different story). Prayers do nothing if you don't have faith. Well, whatever it is, I have yet to meet anyone who has managed to acheive it. What? Move mountains? |

And now that I recall the passage, it goes something like "faith the size of a mustard seed"...so you were right. I'm forgetting. |

Yeah, move mountains, as in, pick up a mountain and move it, not as in explosives or anything. Hmmm .... Interesting ... What exactly does he wants to accomplish by such a feat? And now that I recall the passage, it goes something like "faith the size of a mustard seed"...so you were right. I'm forgetting. Never heard of such saying before ... |
