Default War crimes

What exactly is a war crime?

I did a google search and couldn't find what constitutes a war crime acording to the UN.

Ha! It's all a matter of how history is written. By and large, a 'war crime' is some attrocity committed by the LOSING side in a conflict.

Years later the losing side may try and re-write history (a good example is the German classification of the fire-bombing of Dresden as a war crime) but this seldom succeeds.
