Amen-Moses - another step in my argument.

When it comes to "imposing my ethics on others" I make a distinction between three broad categories of ethical issues, and three different degrees to which I would impose my beliefs on others.
1. I'd do it this way, but you'd do it another way. We can agree to disagree, and perhaps discuss.
2. I'd do it this way and I think you should too. Our discussion will be more heated.
3. "There oughta be a law!" I think everyone should do it this way.

One of the key factors in progressing down this list, and in particular to 3., is the extent to which I believe the position can be defended using logic and reason with a minimum of emotion.

Obviously I believe that "sex with children" falls into category 3. And I will expand on that later.

I still wish to comment on
a. The relationship of "ME" to "US values" now that I realise who "ME" is.
b. The foxhole hypotheticals. (Sounds like a good name for an atheist TV show!)

More later.
