Don't know if I can tell you that. Some passages just hit home.
Anybody want to field this one...I don't see a point from here.

And drop the bargaining angle already - it's a water balloon in a machine gun fight.
Actually, it's not. I once heard a sermon where the pastor pointed out this very passage. In it, he pointed out that this passage is the very origin of the term 'Jewing somebody down", used in place of bargaining. He even joked that Abraham was such a good negotiator, that God had to fade out before the negotiating went any further.

Of course, I'll guess you'd say that this preacher (Southern Baptist) wasn't a "real Christian".

Ah, the Bill Clinton defense. Nobody bought it before, and not now. Your line of reasoning is intellectually bankrupt, and is motivated by your attempt to salvage the mythology of Ignorant Bronze Age Goatherders (tm).

I hereby award you the Black Knight!

(yguy): "My guess would be the devil. How about you?"
(Fr Andrew): Thanks for the chat.

No, I'd say he's a dolt.

Hey - sorry I can't find it in me to take the Bible as literally as you guys do.

Haven't you ever read something, then thought about it and had a light go on?
