Hmm, at stumps on day one, Bangladesh a very respectable 8 for 289.
![]() Anyone think Bangladesh can draw this one? Did Australia make the right decision to field first? I'm thinking they didn't. Seems to be an excellent pitch/field to score on. I reckon the Aussies should've batted first, piled on 600+ and then let Bangladesh crumble under the pressure. |

defintitely one of Waugh's more idiotic decisions, but maybe this will quiet those voices that would rather see less teams in international competition.

I'm not sure whether bowling first was such a dumb decision. The pitch is a greentop, Australia has some of the best fast bowlers in the world, and the Bangladeshi batting didn't exactly set the world on fire in the first Test. Having said that, Bangladesh performed brilliantly and should get to around 300-320 tomorrow. Whether Bangladesh can draw the game depends on how many runs Australia score in the first innings and how fast they score them. If Australia get to 600+ by the end of day 3, they will win. If Australia get only 400 or so, or take until late on day 4 to get to 600, it could make things very interesting.

All out for 295. They really needed to bat through the whole morning session at least.
![]() Let's see what their bowlers can do. Should be interesting, now that they have a decent total to defend. ![]() |

Every team has has had difficulty trying to break 300 against Australia at home, it doesn't happen a whole lot these days, they should be proud.
Waugh and Lehmann have this innings sewn up, and Martin Love might have better luck in Queensland. I'd like to see Gilchrist improve his average too. It seems to be a spinner's track (seven wickets so far), and Australia's two best players of spin are out there (Hayden lost that title after his dismissal today), It should be a big total come tomorrow afternoon. |

kwigibo was right about this being a spinners track. MacGill got another 5 for the innings, and 10 for the match. In the two Tests, MacGill got 17 wickets in total. Shane Warne must be ruing the day he heard the word "tablet".
Martin Love's century won't do him any good, I don't think. If Damien Martyn is fit, he'll make the team. Martin Love might be an eventual replacement for Waugh or Lehmann, though. |

If MacGill is outed simply beacuse Warnie is fit and not form then that would be a harsh blow. |

I agree, it would be unfair and stupid to dump MacGill if he is taking wickets, simply to give Warne a walk-up start.
I think Australia is touring India next year, which should give the selectors the opportunity to have Warne and MacGill in the team as a double-act. |
